Jakarta, April 20 -- Mount Dukono in North Halmahera, North Maluku, erupted again on Monday morning, sending a column of volcanic ash 1.4 kilometers above its summit, Indonesia's Geological Agency said.

Acting head of the agency, Lana Saria, said in a statement issued in Jakarta that the eruption occurred at 05:53 a.m. local time, with a dense ash column drifting eastward.

The ash plume appeared white to gray with thick intensity, indicating sustained emission from the crater, she said, based on visual observations from monitoring posts near the volcano.

Seismic data recorded the eruption with a maximum amplitude of 25 millimeters and a duration of 49.87 seconds, reflecting moderate but persistent volcanic activity, according to the ag...
