Jakarta, June 4 -- Indonesia's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has assured the safety of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products after establishing regulatory standards, as part of efforts to support individuals seeking to quit smoking.

BPOM Deputy for Drug, Narcotics, Psychotropics, Precursors, and Addictive Substance Monitoring William Adi Teja said in Jakarta on Thursday that reducing smoking prevalence requires a comprehensive approach, including education, smoke-free areas, and therapy.

"The availability of medically standardized therapy products with official BPOM distribution permits provides safety assurance for people who want to break free from dependence," he said.
