Jakarta, May 19 -- Indonesia's animation sector has grown more than threefold over the past decade, driven by a strategic shift from outsourcing services to the creation of original intellectual property, Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya announced Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference for the launch of the Indonesia Animation Report 2026 in Jakarta, Riefky revealed that the domestic animation economy surged from approximately Rp240 billion (US$15.3 million) in 2015 to Rp800 billion (US$51 million USD) by 2025.

"This achievement means our animation economy has increased more than 3.3-fold in the past 10 years, maintaining an average annual growth rate of 13 percent," Riefky stated.
