Gilimanuk, Bali, Aug. 25 -- Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said the investment potential of the 100-gigawatt-peak (GWp) solar power plant (PLTS) project is estimated at approximately Rp1,140 trillion (US$62 billion).

"The total investment for 100 GW is Rp1,140 trillion," he said at the launch and groundbreaking event for the solar power plant in Gilimanuk, Bali, on Tuesday.

He added that the power plant project could also save Rp73.9 trillion (US$4 billion) in subsidies.

These subsidy savings can be realized by reducing the need for diesel fuel, as the PLTS projects are targeted to replace diesel-powered power plants (PLTD) that use diesel fuel, he explained.
