Jakarta, Aug. 31 -- The Industry Ministry has ensured that its policy regulating imports of textiles and textile products (TPT) aims to balance supply and demand while protecting domestic production.

Ministry spokesperson Febri Hendri Antoni Arif said the restriction policy is not intended to hinder business, but to align imported goods with domestic market needs.

"The principle is aimed at maintaining the supply-demand balance, matching domestic demand with domestic industry capacity," Arif said on Monday.

He gave an example that if domestic market demand for downstream products reaches 100, while domestic industry can supply 80, the import requirement is only 20.
