Jakarta, July 1 -- Indonesia welcomed 1.38 million foreign tourist arrivals in May 2026, up 5.83 percent from the same month a year earlier, according to data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Wednesday.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono said cumulative foreign tourist arrivals reached 6.07 million during the January-May 2026 period, representing a 7.68 percent increase compared with the corresponding period last year.

By country of origin, Malaysia remained the largest source of foreign visitors in May, accounting for 298,210 arrivals, or 21.58 percent of the total. Australia followed with 155,030 arrivals, or 11.22 percent, while Singapore contributed 136,740 arrivals, equivalent to 9.89 percent...
