Indonesia pushes deep learning to transform education
Jakarta, Aug. 11 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is promoting a Deep Learning approach to transform education, focusing on classroom instruction as a key starting point for improving learning outcomes.
In a written statement on Tuesday, Minister Abdul Mu'ti said education depends not only on what students learn, but also on how they experience the learning process.
"We want to address the problems in our education sector at their root-starting with the learning approach we are developing, which we call Deep Learning," he said.
Mu'ti said Deep Learning is based on three principles: mindful, meaningful and joyful learning, with students' experiences placed at the center of instruction.
