Indonesia plans 40,000 fish farms to boost protein self-sufficiency
Jakarta, July 21 -- Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said the government is preparing to establish 40,000 thematic fish farming villages to strengthen Indonesia's protein self-sufficiency while boosting fisheries exports.
"We held a coordination meeting to oversee, secure, and ensure the success of two major programs. First, the Red and White Fishermen's Village program. Second, the development of fish farming in 40,000 villages," Hasan said here on Tuesday.
He made the remarks after a limited coordination meeting with Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
