Jakarta, May 18 -- Indonesia, forestry companies and carbon standards agency Verra are accelerating integrated carbon trading in the forestry sector following the issuance of Ministerial Regulation P.6/2026, officials said on Monday.

Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Indroyono Soesilo said the regulation provides a clearer framework for developing forestry carbon trading through greenhouse gas offset schemes.

"With the issuance of the regulation, we now have a stronger foundation to accelerate forestry carbon trading," Soesilo said in a statement.

He said Verra holds a strategic role because many Indonesian forestry businesses are interested in adopting its carbon-credit methodology.
