Bogor, West Java, Aug. 12 -- Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has proposed establishing a joint team involving four institutions to strengthen oversight of substance abuse treatment centers nationwide to ensure compliance with standards.

BNN Head Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto floated the proposal in Bogor District, West Java, on Tuesday, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Social Affairs Ministry, the Health Ministry, and the Manpower Ministry.

Seto highlighted persistent shortcomings in drug rehabilitation, citing substandard services, unqualified personnel, and the operation of unlicensed facilities.
