Jakarta, March 4 -- Indonesia has begun exporting 2,280 tonnes of rice to Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the nation supplies its citizens performing the Hajj pilgrimage with domestically produced rice.
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, who also heads the National Food Agency (Bapanas), credited the achievement to Bulog-the state logistics company-and farmers nationwide.
Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani described the initiative as more than a trade milestone.
"This symbolizes the dignity and pride of our nation," he affirmed.
