Indonesia has set up a task force to develop innovative financing for national park management to strengthen biodiversity conservation and improve community welfare, officials said on Wednesday.
Presidential Special Envoy for Climate Change and Energy and Task Force Chair Hashim Djojohadikusumo said resource mobilization must be optimized to protect ecosystems that sustain future generations, stressing the initiative is not for commercialization.
"We emphasize that this conservation financing innovation is not for commercialization. Ecology before tourism. Tourism supports ecology," he said.
