Jakarta, March 23 -- Deputy Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Eddy Soeparno has emphasized the need for responsive policies and actions to address the extreme heat conditions that have recently affected the country.
According to him, the current climate situation has reached a worrying phase, with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reporting the highest air temperatures in Indonesia on March 18.
"I have called for urgent measures to address climate issues causing global temperature increases due to carbon emissions, rising pollution, and rapid deforestation," he said in a statement received here on Monday.
