Indonesia eyes video game exports to drive digital economic growth
Jakarta, Aug. 11 -- Indonesia is eyeing video game exports as a key driver for future economic growth, leveraging a global consumer base to transform its domestic creative economy into an export powerhouse.
Speaking at the official launch event for the Nintendo Switch in Jakarta on Tuesday, Director of Games at the Ministry of Creative Economy Luat Sihombing highlighted the expanding footprint of local game developers in international markets.
Data compiled by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs alongside the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) shows that local games contributed approximately Rp750 billion (approximately US$47 million) in 2024.
