Jakarta, March 21 -- Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government is studying efforts to strengthen local marketplace platforms to prevent domination by global players amid the rapid growth of trade digitalization.

Sadewa noted that the current marketplace ecosystem is largely controlled by foreign companies, posing challenges for domestic businesses.

"I am considering whether there are domestic companies that can be revived to compete with the dominance," he told reporters at the ministry's Directorate General of Taxes office here on Saturday.
