Jakarta, May 11 -- Indonesia and Bangladesh discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation on halal product assurance and the establishment of a foreign halal certification body in Bangladesh, the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) said on Monday.

BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said the enhanced cooperation is an important part of strengthening the global halal ecosystem based on standards, trust, and international collaboration.

"Collaboration with friendly countries is a strategic step toward creating a credible, accountable, and interconnected halal product assurance system, while also bringing benefits to all parties," Hasan said in a statement in Jakarta.
