Jakarta, March 14 -- The Indonesian government officially established the National Council for Primary and Secondary Education to support President Prabowo Subianto's mission of strengthening human resource development.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti on Friday (March 13) inaugurated members of the council, describing it as the first of its kind in Indonesia.

He emphasized that it was formed in line with Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System.

In a statement cited here on Saturday, he noted that the council reflects his ministry's vision of ensuring quality education for all citizens, consistent with one of the president's eight primary missions-collectively known as Asta Cita.
