Indonesia ensures Eid al-Adha 2026 sacrificial animal supply is secure
Jakarta, May 13 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that the supply of animals for qurbani-the Islamic ritual sacrifice-ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Adha remains secure and sufficient to meet this year's increased demand.
"Nationally, the availability of sacrificial animals is sufficient and well-managed," the ministry's Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Agung Suganda, said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He explained that the potential supply of sacrificial animals this year has reached 3,246,790 head. Meanwhile, the estimated demand for 2026 is approximately 2,355,470 head, resulting in a surplus of around 891,320.
