Indonesia continues preparations for Giant Sea Wall project
Jakarta, May 23 -- The Indonesian government continues to oversee preparations for the Giant Sea Wall project along Java's northern coast, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said.
"I have reported to the President that we are continuing to oversee this project in 2026, and hopefully implementation will be more advanced in 2027," said Yudhoyono, popularly known as AHY, in a statement on Friday.
He said the project is intended to protect the northern coast of Java from land subsidence and rising sea levels while safeguarding the economy and livelihoods of coastal communities.
