Jakarta, April 21 -- Indonesia considers the safety and security of UN peacekeepers as non-negotiable, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela emphasized on Tuesday, in response to recent incidents involving personnel of the UNIFIL in Lebanon.
"Indonesia is committed to carrying out its mandate within the UNIFIL mission in accordance with Resolution 1701 (2006), by continuously conducting regular assessments of the situation on the ground," Nabyl said.
He said Indonesia continues to coordinate with the UN and troop-contributing countries to strengthen personnel protection.
