Indonesia confirms release of Gaza volunteers detained by Israel
Jakarta, May 21 -- Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed the release of all nine Indonesians who had been detained by Israeli forces during the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission.
"The nine Indonesian citizens who were arrested by the Israeli military during the interception of ships and the arrest of volunteers from the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 are currently en route from Israel to Istanbul, Turkey," Sugiono said in a press statement on Thursday.
Sugiono stated that the release of the Indonesian volunteers was the result of hard work and close coordination between the Indonesian government and various parties.
