Jakarta, May 21 -- Indonesia strongly condemns the violence and abuse inflicted on volunteers of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission, who were detained by Israeli forces earlier this week.

"The Indonesian government once again reiterates its condemnation of the inhumane treatment received by the volunteers during their detention," Foreign Minister Sugiono stated here on Thursday.

Sugiono said these degrading acts constitute a violation of international law, especially when it was committed against volunteers who were carrying out a humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza.
