Surabaya, E Java, Aug. 4 -- Indonesian Deputy Transportation Minister Suntana has announced that the search and rescue (SAR) operations for the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II passenger ferry fire have officially concluded following the successful evacuation of all passengers.

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that befell our brothers and sisters. Thank God, all (rescue and evacuation) processes have been completed today," Suntana said during a press conference on Tuesday.

He stated that the government immediately deployed all relevant agencies to the site to manage the emergency, encompassing both rescue operations and ensuring the victims' needs and rights were met.
