Jakarta, July 13 -- Indonesia has fully completed construction of 15,845 Red and White Village Cooperatives, with the government preparing to launch their operations in August as part of a nationwide drive to strengthen rural economies.

Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said on Sunday that the completed cooperatives include fully finished buildings, warehouses, retail outlets, and supporting equipment, while another 19,539 cooperatives remain under construction.

A total of about 83,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) have also completed their legal incorporation process, he said during the 79th National Cooperatives Day celebration at Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.
