Jakarta, July 23 -- Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono has welcomed the United Kingdom's decision to recognize the State of Palestine and support the realization of a two-state solution.

"Our shared task now is to match recognition with protection: of civilians, humanitarian access, and the path toward a two-state solution," Sugiono said in an official statement released here on Thursday.

During the recent ASEAN-UK Foreign Ministers' Meeting, he emphasized that the UK carries a special responsibility as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to advocate for a just and sustainable peace.
