Jakarta, Oct. 2 -- Indonesia can broaden international support for Palestine by engaging countries beyond those that have consistently backed Palestinian statehood, international relations analyst Muhammad Syaroni Rofii said.

"Indonesia can build support beyond the circle that has consistently backed Palestine. Its membership in several UN bodies can be maximized for lobbying," said Syaroni of the University of Indonesia.

Speaking to ANTARA on Friday, he said attitudes toward Palestine were shifting in some Western countries. The European Union has criticized Israel's actions in Gaza and plans for settlements in the E1 area.
