Jakarta, April 28 -- Indonesia is strengthening athlete welfare by awarding bonuses for international achievements and promoting long-term financial planning to secure athletes' futures, Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said.
He said bonuses for medalists at the SEA Games, Asian Games and Olympics show the state's appreciation for athletes' sacrifices.
"Athletes give their all to win and elevate Indonesia's name globally," Erick said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said the government consistently supports athletes' lives, in line with the vision of President Prabowo Subianto.
