Indonesia bolsters small business protection on digital marketplaces
Jakarta, July 29 -- Behind the glare of bustling digital transactions in Indonesia lies the story of millions of small merchants who build their livelihoods on digital marketplaces.
The 2024 E-Commerce Statistics data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) revealed that of the total 4.4 million businesses operating on e-commerce platforms, 97.38 percent are micro and small enterprises.
This figure reflected a significant growth of 15.3 percent from the previous year, highlighting the role of small businesses as the backbone of Indonesia's digital economy.
