Indonesia affirms readiness to assist Myanmar peace process via ASEAN
Jakarta, July 13 -- Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to help Myanmar achieve lasting peace through ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus, with Foreign Minister Sugiono urging inclusive dialogue and continued regional engagement during an informal ministers' meeting in Bangkok.
Speaking on Sunday, Sugiono said Indonesia was ready to help "build bridges" within the framework of ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus (5PC).
"Any durable solution must be Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-led. Indonesia is ready to help build bridges to achieve this," Sugiono said.
He said that although Myanmar held general elections earlier this year, implementation of the 5PC continued to face significant challenges.
