Jakarta, April 8 -- Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman asserted that Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in several protein and carbohydrate sources without imports through strengthened domestic production and food policies.
"We have achieved self-sufficiency in both protein and carbohydrates. These are the nutrients the body needs," he stated during a meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He noted that Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in several strategic food staples, including rice, eggs, poultry, and feed corn. These four commodities serve as primary sources of carbohydrates and protein, while also supporting the production of animal-based proteins.
