Jakarta, Aug. 24 -- Uruguay has offered to strengthen bilateral agricultural ties with Indonesia, focusing on capacity-building programs for Indonesian farmers, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said Monday.

"Indonesia and Uruguay have great potential to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, as well as concrete collaboration in the farming sector," Hartarto said following a meeting in Jakarta with Uruguay's Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi and Deputy Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Matias Carambula.

Hartarto highlighted the offer's strategic value, noting Uruguay's position as a major producer and exporter of beef and dairy products in South America.
