Jakarta, May 22 -- Indonesia and the United Kingdom, through the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) and the British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham) Indonesia, held talks on strengthening the halal product supply chain between the two countries.

BPJPH head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said on Friday the discussions also covered the implementation of Indonesia's halal product assurance system, known as JPH.

"Halal is not a trade barrier. Halal is about customer satisfaction and loyalty. When halal assurance is firmly established, products gain added value and stronger competitiveness in the global market," Hasan stated.
