Indonesia, Sudan eye food security cooperation in defense talks
Jakarta, Sept. 9 -- Indonesia and Sudan explored avenues for cooperation in food security as their defense ministers held a meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, according to the Indonesian Defense Ministry.
Potential joint initiatives aimed at strengthening food security were among the topics discussed by Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and his Sudanese counterpart, Lt. General Hassan Daoud Kabroun Kayan.
Speaking after the meeting, ministry spokesperson Brig. General Rico Ricardo Sirait noted that Sudan highlighted its vast agricultural area and sizeable livestock sector.
He added that the African country underscored opportunities to harness and align those strengths with Indonesia's large-scale food security agenda.
