Jakarta, Aug. 11 -- The Ministry of Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection (P2MI) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are preparing to renew their partnership to safeguard Indonesian migrant workers abroad.

"Cooperation between the IOM and the Indonesian government has run smoothly," Deputy Minister of P2MI Christina Aryani said following a meeting with IOM Chief of Mission for Indonesia Jeffrey Labovitz at the ministry's office in Jakarta on Monday.

She explained that the renewal is necessary to align the partnership with the recent institutional transition of the former Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) into a cabinet-level ministry.
