Indonesia, Chile strengthen SPS cooperation to expand farm trade
Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) and Chile's Ministry of Agriculture have agreed to strengthen sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) cooperation to expand agricultural trade while respecting each other's health and safety requirements.
Barantin Secretary Shandra Hanitiyo co-chaired a meeting in Jakarta on Friday with Chilean Agriculture Undersecretary Fransesco Venezian, discussing cooperation in SPS information exchange, electronic certification, risk analysis, inspection, and laboratory capacity.
The meeting followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on quarantine measures and certification cooperation in Chile in 2025, according to a statement cited here.
