Jakarta, April 16 -- Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty met with Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono to discuss plans for urea fertilizer import from Indonesia to fulfill India's agricultural needs.

"We discussed efforts to support India in securing its urea supply needs, where Indonesia holds one of the sources," Sudaryono said on Thursday.

He addressed that Indonesia and India share close historical and cultural ties, as well as strong, mutually beneficial economic cooperation in various development sectors.

Based government calculations, Indonesia has a surplus of about 1.5 million tons of urea, which can be allocated for export after domestic needs are met.
