Indonesia, Sept. 15 -- Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said 22 confirmed survivors of the Virgo Transport 8 accident were stranded at sea after high waves repeatedly disrupted their evacuation to Banjarmasin.

Basarnas Chief Mohammad Syafii said the 22 survivors were aboard the wooden Cahaya Bahari, which remained offshore because above-normal waves prevented it from approaching the vessel receiving the survivors.

"Because of above-normal waves this morning, the two vessels briefly collided during the transfer, requiring repairs," Syafii said at a press conference on Monday evening or the second day of the SAR operation.
