Govt to bring Independence Day celebration closer to people
Jakarta, Aug. 5 -- Head of the Government Communications Office (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari said the government aims to make Indonesia's 81st Independence Day more inclusive and accessible, creating a celebration that brings the public closer together.
"The government wants this year's Independence Day commemoration to feel different and closer to the hearts of the people. We want the independence month to become a celebration that belongs to all of us," Qodari said here on Wednesday.
The Indonesian government also wants this year's Independence Day commemoration not only to be a state ceremony, he added, but also to be felt directly by the public.
