Govt targets 40,000 village cooperatives by year-end
Jakarta, July 11 -- Indonesia aims to have 40,000 "Red and White" Village Cooperatives (KDMP) operational by the end of 2026 as part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen the country's rural economy, an official said.
Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah stated here on Saturday that the government is focusing equally on infrastructure development and preparing the human resources needed to manage the facilities.
A primary priority is training cooperative managers to ensure they can operate the businesses professionally from day one.
"This ensures they have the capacity and competence to build, develop, and manage the cooperatives professionally right from the start of operations," Farichah said.
