Govt stated Mt. Anak Krakatau's 25-hour eruption episode ends
Jakarta, Sept. 7 -- A Geological Agency at the Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded the continuous eruption episode of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait has ended after lasting 25 hours.
The continuous eruption episode, which began on Friday (Sept 4) at 11:07 p.m. local time, officially ended on Sunday (Sept 6) at 12:04 a.m., Head of the Geological Agency, Lana Saria, said in an evaluation report received here on Monday.
"Following the end of that episode, Mount Anak Krakatau's volcanic activity transitioned back to Strombolian eruption characteristics, marked by the recording of three Strombolian eruption earthquakes," Saria said.
