Jakarta, May 21 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has emphasized that while online marketplace platforms are not banned from raising their service fees, the government stresses the critical need for transparency in how those charges are set.

The ministry is currently drafting a revision to Ministry of Trade Regulation No. 31 of 2023 on electronic commerce to ensure a fairer online trading environment. A key provision under review includes service fee issues.

Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, told the press in Jakarta on Thursday that the regulation revision is currently being finalized and is targeted for completion in the near future.
