Govt backs development of book cafes to boost creative economy
Jakarta, Aug. 10 -- Indonesia's Creative Economy Ministry has voiced support for the development of book cafes, highlighting that cross-sectoral collaboration between the culinary and publishing industries is expected to generate added value for the nation's creative economy.
Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya noted that such establishments could serve as an innovative business model for entrepreneurs while simultaneously expanding public reading spaces.
In an official statement released here on Monday, the minister said the book cafe concept demonstrates that commercial spaces can function not only as transaction hubs but also as melting pots for communities, ideas, and various creative products.
