Indonesia, Sept. 5 -- The Indonesian government has allocated Rp5.5 billion (approximately US$312,000) from Ministry of Forestry's special allocation fund to bolster efforts in mitigating forest and land fires in West Kalimantan.

"The funds are designated for the regional Environment and Forestry Office to strengthen integrated fire mitigation efforts, which encompass aerial and ground operations, peatland rewetting, law enforcement, and prevention," Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said here on Saturday.

In addition to the fund, the government will coordinate with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and the House of Representatives (DPR) to secure extra operational budgets for upgrading fire mitigation infrastructure.
