Sumedang, West Java, June 18 -- Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that the circular on public viewing events for the World Cup was issued to encourage regional governments to capitalize on the momentum to stimulate regional revenue.

During a visit to Jatinangor, Sumedang, on Thursday, Sugiarto said that the Home Affairs Minister's Circular No. 400.2.7/4657/SJ was intended to create economic activity amid strong public enthusiasm for the World Cup.

"(Regarding the circular), the minister wants regional original revenue to continue increasing and local economies to keep moving. One way is by encouraging regional heads to hold public viewing events," he remarked.
