Jakarta, March 27 -- The government continues to accelerate the construction of permanent housing for people whose homes were severely damaged or lost due to hydrometeorological disasters in the Sumatra region.
"The stage of temporary shelters is almost complete. We are now entering the phase of accelerating all permanent housing construction," Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said in a statement here on Friday.
The minister said the acceleration is aimed at ensuring that affected communities do not stay too long in temporary shelters.
He emphasized this while reviewing the permanent housing construction site in Dolok Nauli Village, Adian Koting Sub-district, North Tapanuli District, North Sumatra.
