Jakarta, June 15 -- German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier described Indonesia as an important pillar of stability within the ASEAN region and praised its active role in shaping Southeast Asia's security architecture.

Speaking during his visit to the Merdeka Palace on Monday, Steinmeier said that Europe closely follows developments in the Indo-Pacific and recognizes ASEAN's crucial role in strengthening regional security.

Steinmeier noted that Indonesia serves as a key stabilizing force within ASEAN.
