Jakarta, Sept. 14 -- Seasoned economist and veteran public official Suahasil Nazara was sworn in as Indonesia's new Finance Minister at the State Palace on Monday, succeeding Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

Suahasil steps into the top cabinet post after serving as Deputy Minister of Finance, a role he held across two administrations.

His appointment marks the third transition at the helm of the Finance Ministry under President Prabowo Subianto's administration, following Sri Mulyani Indrawati and most recently Purbaya, who took office in September 2025.

Born in Jakarta on November 23, 1970, Suahasil is a prominent economist, academic and public official with extensive experience in economic policy.
