Kuningan, W. Java, May 11 -- The forestry and land-use sector is expected to contribute 60 percent to Indonesia's greenhouse gas emission reduction target by 2030, the Forestry Ministry said.
Forestry Ministry FOLU NC 2 & 3 Project Manager Arga Paradita Sutiyono said Indonesia's greenhouse gas emissions could reach 2.8 billion tons of CO2 equivalent by 2030 without mitigation efforts.
"Through Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink measures, we aim to reduce emissions to 1.2 billion tons of CO2 equivalent. That means a reduction of 1.6 billion tons, with 60 percent relying on the forestry sector," Arga said during a discussion at Mount Ciremai National Park in West Java on Monday evening.
