Jakarta, July 18 -- Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister and National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Head Nusron Wahid said legal certainty over land ownership is a key prerequisite for strengthening Indonesia's food security.

"For us, food security cannot be separated from legal certainty over land rights," Nusron said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.

He said the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency supports food security not only by ensuring legal certainty over land ownership, but also through sustainable spatial planning and the protection of agricultural land.
