Jakarta, May 15 -- Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono called for BRICS, as a power in the Global South, to play an active role in maintaining global peace and stability."

"As a rising power in the Global South, BRICS has the position and responsibility to take a more active role in maintaining peace and preserving the rules that underpin global stability," he said in a statement quoted on Friday.
